Article 1 (Purpose)
These Terms set out the conditions and procedures for using PenPick (the "Service"), a canvas service that helps with the conception and organization of stories, provided by 손손 (the "Company"), the rights, obligations and responsibilities of the Company and Users, and other necessary matters.
Article 2 (Definitions)
The terms used in these Terms have the following meanings.
- —"Service" means all of the features described in Article 7 that the Company provides through its website.
- —"User" means a person who agrees to these Terms, creates an account through the procedure set by the Company, and uses the Service.
- —"External Account" means an account with an outside service that the Company supports as a means of logging in. The types of External Accounts supported are shown on the login screen, and the Company may add or remove types.
- —"Work" means a canvas-based unit that a User creates within the Service, and includes the notes, events, chapters and relationships within it.
- —"Content" means all of a User's creations that the User enters into or stores in the Service, such as text, notes and settings.
- —"Output" means text, such as notes and sentences, that an outside AI service the User has connected (AI connection in Article 7) writes into a Work at the User's request.
- —"Plan" means a unit of terms of use that sets the scope of use of the Service (such as the number of Works). There are a free plan and paid plans.
- —"Usage limit" means the cap on use, such as the number of Works, set for each plan.
- —"Payment Agent" means the payment service provider that processes payments for paid plans and their cancellation and refund for the Company (Article 10).
Article 3 (Posting and Amendment of the Terms)
The Company posts these Terms and the service provider information in Article 4 on the screens of the Service so that Users can easily check them.
The Company may amend these Terms to the extent that doing so does not violate relevant laws, such as the Act on the Regulation of Terms and Conditions, the Act on the Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce, Etc. and the Content Industry Promotion Act.
When amending the Terms, the Company announces the amendment on the screens of the Service, together with the current Terms and stating the effective date and the reason for the amendment, from 7 days before the effective date. An amendment that is unfavorable to Users or material is announced from 30 days before the effective date, and Users are notified individually by email or other means.
If the Company, when announcing or notifying under paragraph 3 of this Article, clearly informed Users that failing to express refusal by the effective date will be deemed consent, and a User nevertheless does not express refusal by the effective date and continues to use the Service, the User is deemed to have agreed to the amended Terms. A User who does not agree to the amended Terms may terminate the service agreement (delete their account).
Parts that state facts about the Service, such as the list of features in Article 7, the types of External Accounts used for login and the types of payment methods, are updated as the Service expands. An update that adds features is not regarded as an amendment unfavorable to Users; an update that removes existing features or changes conditions follows the amendment procedure of this Article.
Replacing an outside business that the Company uses to provide the Service (Payment Agents, hosting and cloud, email delivery and the like) with another business in the same role, or adding such a business, is not regarded as an amendment of these Terms. However, where this changes prices, the benefits of paid plans, or the rights and obligations of Users to the disadvantage of Users, the amendment procedure of this Article applies.
A change under paragraph 6 of this Article is announced on the screens of the Service before it is made. Where there is a reason that the Company could not know in advance, or that requires an immediate change in order to keep providing the Service, such as an outside business ending its service, termination of a contract, an outage, or a requirement of law or of a supervisory authority, the Company announces the change without delay after making it.
Article 4 (Service Provider Information)
Pursuant to Article 13 of the Act on the Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce, Etc., the service provider's information is shown as follows.
- —Business name: 손손
- —Representative: 손승우
- —Address: 경기도 고양시 덕양구 화정로 53-1, 709-가3호
- —Phone number: 070-8095-2085
- —Business registration number: 340-23-02341
- —Mail-order business report number: 제 2026-고양덕양구-2383 호
- —Email: support@penpick.app
- —Hosting service provider: Google LLC
Article 5 (Formation of the Service Agreement)
The service agreement is formed when a User agrees to these Terms and the Privacy Policy, logs in with an External Account (currently Google) and creates an account. Proceeding to log in on the login screen is deemed agreement to both documents.
The Service may be used only by persons aged 14 or older. The Company does not accept registrations from children under the age of 14, and may terminate the service agreement if a User is found to be under the age of 14 after registration.
The Company may refuse to accept a registration, or terminate the service agreement afterwards, in any of the following cases.
- —Where the User has misappropriated another person's account or information
- —Where the User registers again without the Company's consent after their use was restricted or their agreement was terminated under these Terms
- —Where the User attempts to create an account or use the Service by automated means
- —Where it is otherwise evident that the User violates relevant laws or would harm the normal operation of the Service
Article 6 (Account Management)
An account is linked to the External Account the User used to log in, and one Service account is created for each External Account. Because member information is received from the External Account's provider, a change of email address or name can be made in the User's account with that provider and is reflected at the next login.
The User is responsible for managing the account and its means of login, and must not allow any third party to use them. The password and security settings of the External Account are managed by the User under the terms and policies of its provider.
If a User becomes aware that their account has been misappropriated or is being used by a third party, the User must notify the Company immediately and follow the Company's instructions. The Company may temporarily restrict the use of an account suspected of misappropriation. The Company is not liable for any disadvantage arising from the User's failure to give such notice or to follow such instructions, unless the Company acted intentionally or negligently.
If a User becomes unable to log in for reasons on the External Account provider's side (suspension or deletion of the account, termination of its service, etc.), the User may contact the Company at the email address in Article 4 and recover the account after identity verification.
Article 7 (Description of the Service)
The Service provided by the Company is as follows. The Company may add features, and these Terms also apply to added features.
- —Canvas: A tool for building the blueprint of a story: each work has one canvas where notes such as characters and places sit alongside events, events are placed in the flow of chapters, and notes and events are connected
- —AI connection: A feature that connects an outside AI service the user chooses (for example Claude or ChatGPT) to the canvas, with the user's approval or a personal key the user creates, so that the AI reads and writes works, notes and chapters at the user's request. Content passed to a connected AI service is governed by that service's terms and privacy policy, and the connection can be removed in Settings at any time
- —Canvas editing aids: Features that help with editing the canvas, such as undo
Article 8 (Usage Limits)
The usage limit of each plan (for example, the number of Works) is shown in the Service's pricing information. Works in the trash are not counted.
When a limit is reached, creating new Works, adding examples and restoring Works from the trash are restricted, while existing Works can still be opened and edited as before.
The Company may adjust how limits are calculated and their levels for the stable operation of the Service, and announces any adjustment unfavorable to Users through the procedure in Article 3.
Article 9 (Changes to and Suspension of the Service)
In principle, the Company provides the Service 24 hours a day, every day of the year. However, the Company may temporarily suspend all or part of the Service where necessary for operational or technical reasons, such as system maintenance, replacement of equipment, outages, or circumstances of outside providers (cloud, payment, External Accounts), and announces planned suspensions in advance.
The Company may change the content, features and methods of use of the Service. Changes unfavorable to Users are announced through the procedure in Article 3, and a change that reduces the core benefits of a paid plan is announced 30 days before its effective date.
If the Company terminates the Service in its entirety, it announces this at least 30 days before the termination date and provides a way for Users to download their Works. Payments corresponding to the remaining period of a paid plan are refunded on a pro-rata daily basis.
Article 10 (Paid Plans and Payment)
The Company offers a free plan and paid plans, and sells paid plans to Users itself. The price, benefits and usage limit of each plan are shown in the Service's pricing information and on the payment screen.
The Service is currently in its beta period, and the Company takes no payments during the beta period. During the beta period, the Company provides the Plus plan free of charge (0 US dollars), and shows the price that will apply after the official launch alongside it in the pricing information and on the payment screen.
A User who starts the Plus plan during the beta period may keep using the Plus plan free of charge for 3 months from the official launch date. When this period ends, no payment is made automatically and the plan does not automatically become a paid plan. To keep using it, the User must choose a paid subscription themselves; if the User does not, the account moves to the free plan, and Works and Content are kept as they are. The Company announces the official launch date and the date on which this period ends in advance, in the Service and by email.
The official launch schedule and the method of paid payments (the Payment Agent, payment methods, recurring payments, plan changes and cancellation) will be set out in these Terms and announced under the procedure in Article 3 before paid payments begin.
A User may cancel the Plus plan at any time via "Cancel Plus" under Settings → Account, and on cancellation the account moves to the free plan immediately. Works and Content are kept as they are.
Article 11 (Withdrawal and Refunds)
This Article applies where paid payments have been made. During the beta period there are no payments, so there is nothing to refund.
A User may withdraw the purchase for each payment for a paid plan (the first payment, a renewal payment, or a payment made when switching to a higher-priced plan) within 7 days of the date of that payment. In that case, the Company refunds the amount paid less the amount corresponding to the portion already used. The portion used is the share of that billing period's days that have passed. When a payment made on switching to a higher-priced plan is withdrawn, the remaining amount of the previous plan refunded with that payment is regarded as already returned. Upon withdrawal, the paid plan used under that payment ends when the withdrawal is processed and the account moves to the free plan.
A paid plan is digital content that can be divided according to use. Accordingly, under Article 17(2)(5) of the Act on the Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce, Etc., the portion already used is excluded from withdrawal and the purchase may be withdrawn for the portion not used. Under paragraph 6 of the same Article, the Company states this on the payment screen and the Refund Policy page, and lets Users try the Service in advance on the free plan.
If the Company fails to provide the Service for reasons attributable to the Company, or a service different from what was displayed or advertised is provided, the User may withdraw the purchase or receive a refund of the payment corresponding to the affected period, regardless of whether use has begun.
A withdrawal under paragraph 2 for the payment of the billing period currently in use can be made directly by opening that payment under Settings → Billing history and choosing "Cancel payment" after checking the refund amount; on application the payment is cancelled at once and the paid plan ends. Withdrawals for other payments and other refunds can be requested via "Ask for a refund" on that payment under Settings → Billing history or at the email address in Article 4; the Company processes them within 3 business days from the date on which the grounds for the refund are confirmed, and if it decides not to refund, it notifies the User of the reason by email. Refunds are returned by cancelling the original payment in whole or in part through the Payment Agent; depending on the User's payment method, it may take a few more days to be reflected.
After the period in paragraph 2 of this Article has passed, payments for billing periods already paid for are not refunded. However, in the cases of paragraph 4 of this Article, Article 9(3) and Article 15(3), those provisions apply.
The free plan involves no payment and is therefore not subject to refunds. Benefits received through discounts or other promotions are refunded based on the amount actually paid.
If it is confirmed that a User has abused the refund system, for example by repeatedly paying and withdrawing, the Company may restrict that User's use of paid plans under Article 15.
The refund standards are also explained in the Refund Policy.
Article 12 (Rights to Content)
Copyright in the Content that a User enters into or stores in the Service, and in works of authorship that the User completes by incorporating Output, belongs to the User. The Company does not disclose a User's Content or use it for promotion without the User's consent.
The User grants the Company a non-exclusive license to store, reproduce, transmit and display Content to the extent necessary for providing, operating and backing up the Service, responding to outages and conducting security checks. This license ends when the User deletes the Content or when the service agreement ends. However, backup copies are deleted within the period set in the Privacy Policy.
Article 13 (Output of a Connected AI and the User's Responsibility)
Output is produced by an outside AI service the User has connected, and may be inaccurate or incomplete. Even without the User's intent, Output may contain expressions similar or identical to another person's work, or content that is not factual, and the Company does not warrant the accuracy, completeness or originality of Output.
A connected AI service processes the content of Works under the terms and privacy policy the User has agreed to with that service. The items passed to that service are set out in the Privacy Policy, and the User can remove the connection in Settings at any time.
The User is responsible for reviewing and using Output. Before making external use of Content and Output, such as posting, publishing, entering it in contests or using it commercially, the User must personally check for plagiarism and for infringement of third-party rights, and the User bears the legal responsibility arising from such use.
The rights to Works and Content belong to the User under Article 12. However, whether copyright is recognized in Output may differ by country and circumstances; the Company does not warrant that Output is protected by copyright, and makes no warranty, express or implied, that Output does not infringe third parties' copyrights, trademark rights, portrait rights or other rights.
Article 14 (User Obligations and Prohibited Acts)
Users must not engage in any of the following acts.
- —Creating, or causing to be generated, content that infringes another person's rights, such as copyright, portrait rights or reputation
- —Creating, or causing to be generated, content that sexually objectifies or exploits children or adolescents, or other content that violates the law
- —Entering another person's personal information without consent, or including it in Output
- —Circumventing the Service's usage limits or security measures, or sending abnormal requests by automated means
- —Exploiting vulnerabilities in the Service, or reselling or re-providing the Service without the Company's consent
- —Interfering with the normal use of the Service by the Company, other Users or third parties
Article 15 (Restrictions on Use)
If a User violates these Terms or interferes with the normal operation of the Service, the Company may, after notifying the User of this, impose restrictions in stages, in the order of a warning, restriction of some features, temporary suspension, and termination of the service agreement. However, in urgent or serious cases, such as a violation of law or harm to other Users, the Company may take action first and notify the User afterwards.
A User whose use has been restricted may file an objection at the email address in Article 4, and if the Company finds the objection justified, it resumes the User's use immediately.
Even where the Company terminates the service agreement, payments for the remaining period of a paid plan the User has already paid for are refunded on a pro-rata daily basis. However, where the agreement is terminated because of the User's serious violation, damages caused by the violation may be deducted.
Article 16 (Termination of the Service Agreement and Account Deletion)
A User may request the deletion of their account at any time in the Service's account settings. When deletion is requested, a 7-day grace period begins, and the User can withdraw the request on the settings screen within that period.
When account deletion is requested, the plan in use ends immediately. Where a paid payment has been made, the unused part of a billing period already paid for is refunded through the Payment Agent with the request: the amount paid, less the amount corresponding to the share of that period's days that have passed (and less anything already refunded). The amount is shown on the deletion screen before the request is made. Within 7 days of the payment, withdrawal under Article 11 is also available.
After the grace period, the account and Works are deleted and cannot be recovered. The handling of personal information and Content after account deletion follows the Privacy Policy.
Article 17 (Limitation of Liability)
The Company is not liable for damages arising from causes beyond the Company's reasonable control, such as natural disasters, war, power outages, telecommunications failures, outages of outside providers, causes attributable to the User, or unlawful acts of third parties, unless the Company acted intentionally or negligently.
The Company is not liable for a User's judgments and actions based on the content of Output, or for disputes with third parties arising from the external use of Output.
The Company is not liable for damages in respect of features provided free of charge, unless relevant laws specifically provide otherwise. However, this does not apply to damages caused by the Company's intent or gross negligence. The Company's liability in connection with paid plans is limited to the amount the User actually paid for the relevant billing period, unless the Company acted with intent or gross negligence.
This Article does not limit any liability of the Company that cannot be limited under relevant laws, such as the Act on the Regulation of Terms and Conditions.
Article 18 (Dispute Resolution)
To handle Users' legitimate opinions and complaints, the Company receives inquiries at the email address in Article 4, and informs the User of the result or the schedule for handling the matter within 10 days from the date of receipt.
Electronic commerce disputes between the Company and a User may be submitted to mediation by the Consumer Dispute Mediation Committee of the Korea Consumer Agency (한국소비자원 소비자분쟁조정위원회), or by a dispute mediation body commissioned by the Korea Fair Trade Commission (공정거래위원회) or a Mayor or Do Governor (시·도지사).
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. Lawsuits between the Company and a User are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the district court having jurisdiction over the User's domicile at the time the suit is filed or, if the User has no domicile, over the User's residence. However, if the User's domicile or residence is unclear, or the User resides abroad, the suit is filed with the competent court under the Civil Procedure Act (민사소송법).
Article 19 (Language)
These Terms are written in Korean, and even where the Company provides translations into other languages for the convenience of Users, the Korean original prevails. Where a translation differs from the original, the original governs.
